INSTRUCT, Integrated Structural Biology Infrastructure for Europe

... consists of Centers of excellence open to external users, driving technical innovation, and changing over time as technologies and scientific opportunities evolve.

Recently, the United Kingdom's Medical Research Council (MRC) has approved funds for the UK subscription for INSTRUCT's operations. This is very positive information for the whole project in all participating countries, Czech Republic including. You can read the announcement of the funding and of the start of the implementation phase in April 2011.

BioStruct-X

BioStruct-X in close collaboration with INSTRUCT secures finances to enable access to some key techniques of structural biology, such as synchrotron data collection, protein production, high throughput protein crystallization and other.

BioStruct-X allows for applications for funding access to structural biology techniques across Europe.

Please, refer to the details at the BioStruct-X web pages for further information.

The aim of INSTRUCT

... is to stimulate and facilitate research that integrates an understanding of biological structure with cellular function. It provides researchers with access to state-of-the-art structural biology technologies and to drive innovation at the boundaries between these technologies.

The rationale behind creating this initiative is the fact that equipment at the cutting-edge of structural biology is increasingly expensive to build and maintain, and no European country possesses such equipment and expertise in all structural biology technologies.

Detailed information can be found at INSTRUCT web pages.

Czech Infrastructure for Integrative Structural Biology (CIISB)

The Czech Infrastructure for Integrative Structural Biology (CIISB) is a distributed infrastructure of the core facilities and central laboratories of CEITEC(Central European Institute of Technology, Brno) and BIOCEV (Biotechnology and Biomedicine Centre, Vestec near Prague, Central Bohemia) providing expertise and access to technologies used for integrative approaches to structural analysis of biologically important cellular components and macromolecules - proteins, nucleic acids, and their complexes at different resolution levels, ranging from atomic to cellular.
